Game Awards 2022 – Which Games Will Be Nominated?

As we head into the fall season, the initial details on The Game Awards 2022 have finally been revealed – And it’s a big one. The ceremony will debut this year on 8 December and a brand-new category will also be introduced. The award show presentation will be held in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theatre.

The Game Awards is basically the gaming industry’s version of the Oscars. The event is essentially a combination of the video game Oscars and E3. It awards creators and games in a wide range of categories. Furthermore, it also provides an excellent marketing opportunity for companies to show off trailers for their new projects. Game Awards 2022 will be available to watch on various popular streaming platforms, e.g. Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and more. The award show is also partnering with IMAX to broadcast the event in select theatres.

It’s hosted by Geoff Keighley, a big name in the gaming industry, and has been around for a long time now.

New Award Category

Apart from the event date, a new prize category has also been announced for the Game Awards this year. It is being called “Best Game Adaptation” and it is for the projects that create films, podcasts, series, comics, and novels based on games. You can expect movies like Uncharted to appear in this category.

Which Games Will Be There?

No public nominations have been revealed so far. For previous Game Awards events, these nominations got announced in the month of November. This year’s ceremony will likely follow the same schedule.

In short, there is no indication of how many previews for the games and nominations will be there exactly. There is only the promise of amazing world premieres and new game announcements. At the moment, no one really knows which previously released games will get recognition in this year’s Game Awards, or what upcoming games could be announced. However, The Leak has posted some rumors and predictions.

That said, gamers have started sharing their own nominations for the Game Awards 2022. A lot of people are hoping that Kirby and the Forgotten Land will get recognition at the event. Elden Ring is another massive game that is being talked about. The voice actor for Stray has also been mentioned, which is in fact not the cat itself.

The biggest talk is about Elden Ring as being the top contender for the Game of the Year award. Many anticipate that God of War: Ragnarök will be released early to become eligible for the award but it’s so close to the award it’s likely not getting any nominations. Other games that are expected to be at Game Awards 2022 include Horizon Forbidden West, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and even The Last of US PS5 remake.

More information about the games and the event as a whole will be revealed in the coming months. After all, December is still quite some time away. In the weeks leading to the show, many expect to learn about all the announcements and nominations. At the moment, it’s just a waiting game. However, you can be sure that there are a lot of highly anticipated games releasing this fall season to bide the time. 2022 was a great year for games and the Game Awards 2022 is likely to be a stellar show.
