Reports have been flooding in from all over the web. The newest NVIDIA WHQL drivers, 196.75, have been pulled from the NVIDIA downloads page, after reports surfaced of fried GPUs. There have been many posts on the NVIDIA forums already with little response. Their initial suspicion of this issue is that of fan speed controls, possibly some sort of malfunction that is still being rooted out. There is no word yet on if NVIDIA will allow extended RMAs for these happenstances. There is yet no specific cause for these software faults and whether or not they only affect certain models or brands is inconclusive. Most of the time, problems are caused from resource intensive games such as WoW or Crysis. An NVIDIA Technician has posted a somewhat relaxing comment on the NVIDIA forums: “We are currently are investigating the matter to determine the appropriate next steps. Now the wait is over, NVIDIA published the “major announcement” that they were so excited about last Friday. On Friday, March 26th, PAX East 2010 will be taking place in Boston, Massachusetts. NVIDIA has announced an open invitation for anyone wanted to see the next generation of PC gaming. NVIDIA’s dubbing the unveiling a “Special Must See Presentation”. The unveiling will take place Friday, March 26th in the Main Theater 6PM to 7PM EST. “Come see NVIDIA unveil the next generation of PC gaming. Want to see what’s hot and what’s next? Nvidia seems to have partially fallen behind the technology curve this time. Many have been awaiting the GF100 series, or GeForce Fermi, to bring (mostly) DirectX 11 and GDDR5 to NVIDIA rigs. Earlier this month we reported that the first NVIDIA GF100 cards would be the GTX 480 and GTX 470. Thanks to a tweet by NVIDIA, Monday, February 22nd at 9:00 AM PST (Pacific Standard Time), NVIDIA will be tweeting a major announcement. An Administrator of the NVIDIA forums, and an avid technology enthusiast has left us. Chris Arthington (ChrisRay) was a passionate gamer and was always ready to help those of the NVIDIA forums. CES 2010 was unfortunately his last technology conference, spent with the members of the GeForce team. He died Thursday of pneumonia. Not only has the GeForce community lost a valuable member, but also the 3D community as a whole. His goal with NVIDIA was to, "Help All Nvidia users by improving their experience with Nvidia Hardware."

NVIDIA’s Facebook page was updated just minutes ago with some new information on the GeForce Fermi architecture. With a post that says, “Fun Fact of the Week: GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470 will be the names of the first two GPUs shipped based on our new GF100 chip!”
Exitios, moderator from the NVIDIA Forums, confirmed the post as “legit”. The GF100 architecture is NVIDIA’s newest platform aimed at the high-end market. Is expected to make an introduction in Q2 2010, and is currently in volume production, as mentioned by Jen-Hsun Huang, NVIDIA CEO at the NVIDIA Press conference at CES 2010.
The GeForce Fermi series will be NVIDIA's first DirectX 11 native GPU and will feature vast improvements over the GTX200 series. Including:
- 3.0 billion transistors
- 40nm TSMC
- 384-bit memory interface
- 512 shader cores [renamed into CUDA Cores]
- 32 CUDA cores per Shader Cluster

NVIDIA’s press conference was led by none-other than the CEO himself, Jen-Hsun Huang. It seems that no one can get enough of tablets. During yesterday’s keynote, Steven Ballmer announce the availability of an HP Slate tablet. Huang shown off many things today, the first of which were several tablets. Most notable of which was the Compal tablet, hitting the MID market where it counts. NVIDIA plans on releasing many tablets like the Compal, most of which will be based on the Tegra chipset. As of now, Tegra is only used in the Zune HD.

Yesterday a new area appeared in the Nvidia forums pertaining to the release of their newest product. And no its not the coveted 300 series GPU's so many are waiting on. It seems that Nvidia may have actually been paying attention to the budget user, who happens to be their largest customer base. The section in the forums is titled Nvidia Geforce PC kit and first appeared yesterday. Today the account of Mad Mod Mike (Nvidias Admin account) posted the news. It would seem that this is going to be a barebones kit for the beginner PC gaming enthusiast.  Nvida states that certain hand picked hardware is chosen to reduce bottlenecks and improve the overall gaming and video watching experience. This new kit supports PhysX and 3D vision and will be for sale exclusively at Tiger Direct and CompUSA. In light of the United States Federal Trade Commission charging Intel with an anticompetitive monopoly lawsuit, Nvidia’s CEO Jen Hsun Huang has issued an internal memo to his employees earlier today celebrating the federal government’s decision.
He writes:

Today Digitimes reported that Acer possibly put an order in for NVIDIA ION 2 chipsets. While NVIDIA declined to comment, it’s very plausible since Acer has a strong line-up of ION-based AspireRevo nettops. The ION 2 chipset will support Intel’s upcoming Atom 2 processors, Including: N450, N470, D510 and D410. Of which, are probably included in the order as well. The NVIDIA ION 2 is expected to act more like a discrete GPU, rather than integrated. Allowing you to seamlessly stream HD content (Internet connection permitting), as well as play new games at a fairly decent resolution. The ION 2 is expected to consume the same amount, if not less, of power as the first generation ION. Whether or not it will support ARM processors is still in the rumors buzz.  Thanks to BSN, the specifications for the NVIDIA GT300 or “Fermi” platform has been unveiled. It turns out NVIDIA has dropped the GPGPU and has gone for the kill. The GT300’s will be a cGPU, which is a type of hybrid GPU that combines the number-crunching abilities of the CPU, all on the GPU PCB.
Fermi was named after Italian physicist Enrico Fermi, who invented the first nuclear reactor. Reactor happens to be one of the codenames for the GT300 series. Just as expected, the GT300 series will buff GDDR5. Unexpectedly, we will see this configurations in 1.5, 3, and 6GB of vRAM.
