Kotaku has managed to unearth a photo of a new XBOX 360 motherboard, which is in turn dominated with a large CoolerMaster fan (no more RRODs?).

Sure, Microsoft has released a few iterations of the 360’s guts, but this is the first time that the company has managed to shove both the CPU and GPU into a single board, making it smaller/slimmer. To quote Kotaku:

The pic above shows the board in question, with the chip part of a rumoured redesign for the Xbox 360 console, testing of which has recently been completed in China. This isn't simply a new board for the existing hardware, either; it's reportedly a total redesign of the console. Think the PS3 Slim, only...for an Xbox 360.

masters

With a wide array of 3D-related technology shown off and even released by several companies at this year’s CES, it was only a matter of time before 3D made its way into the hands (or shall I say, living rooms) of the consumer. While DirecTV is slated to introduce 3D broadcasts to their lineup sometime this year and/or 2011, competing TV provider Comcast might just beat them to the punch; on Monday Comcast announced that it will be broadcasting The Masters Golf Tournament, over both TV and Internet, in full 3D.

This broadcast, which takes place April 7th through the 11th, will be the industry’s first (unless DirecTV comes along and beats them to it) 3D broadcast of a sporting event, and the first live, multi-camera 3D production that’s broadcasted live. Comcast has been testing out the 3D technology to ensure th...

Nintendo logo

We’ve already heard of some possible features for the next iteration of the Nintendo DS (currently dubbed the DS2), including possible usage of Nvidia’s Tegra chips, offering HD output, along with some accelerometer action.

A blogger has managed to weed some more information on the DS2 from developers. What Raymond Padilla learned was that the DS2 will, of course, include two screens, though they can be used as the current setup (two separate screens), or be used as one large screen. Plus, the screens will be larger than the DS, DS Lite, or DSi’s (though it will probably remain smaller than the DSi LL/XL’s jumbo screens) while displaying pretty pictures at higher resolutions, though not necessarily in HD. Developers also mentioned accelerometers yet again, probably to be used to offer gaming experiences similar to the iPhone, along with doing things like that pedometer thing included in the upcoming Pokemon games (th...

move

Sony officially announced their motion controllers today at GDC 2010. The already fairly well-circulated controllers have been branded as “Move”.

The details about the controllers themselves are generally the same as before, with the requirement of a PlayStation Eye webcam to track the controllers and extremely precise latency. Sony also claims that Move is meant to “new experiences for core gamers”, instead of targeting the non-gamers like Nintendo and their popular Wii console. Along with the controller wand with a glowing ball on top (as seen on the right of the image above), Move will include a subcontroller with the missing analog stick and D-pad for games that require them (like moving around in an FPS).

Sony also stated that the new Move ...

Comcast If you’re a Comcast customer, you might want to know this, especially if you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone. Comcast has updated their iPhone Application with the ability to manage recordings on their DVR boxes. While this functionality is limited to specific areas, it is nice to know that Comcast is finally stepping up to the plate and bringing a bit of usefulness to their iPhone Application (which was before, quite useless.)

The application doesn’t bring huge changes overall, but there are some nice and most welcome changes, as I mentioned before being able to record TV Shows remotely is a nice twist, but since it isn’t a mass market feature...

These days, just about every household has at least more than one gaming console, with some having all of the latest top consoles on the market today: The Sony PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii, perhaps with some other lesser known consoles as well. That being said, obviously each of these consoles have their own lineup of controllers, and, until now, nobody has ventured to create the universal remote equivalent of the gaming world.

A recently filed patent discovered by GoRumors reveals just that, which, quoting the patent, is “an adaptable or universal game controller which can be used to emulate the controllers of popular game consoles, such as, without limitation, the PlayStation.TM. made by Sony, a controller made by Nintendo, X-box.TM. game controllers made by Microsoft, Amiga CD-32.TM. controllers, Atari Jaguar.TM. controllers, Gravis Gamepad.TM. controllers, Sega controllers, and Turbographics controllers”.

152-inchplasma02_md

Over at CES, Panasonic decided that 50 inch plasma TVs were not big enough, so they are showing off a gargantuan 152 inch Plasma television. Engadget have reported that this display is massive in terms of size and cost, as well as taking some extra photos to give a real perspective of the size of the television itself. I bet you’re imagining playing your Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 on this display, in full HD and 1080p. If you plan on playing a Wii on this though remember, just be careful as to how you’re flinging that remote around.

It’s a few days into CES 2010, and we’ve seen a number of stellar 3D offerings from various companies:

  • Nearly every major TV manufacturer has a new 3D HDTV on the table
  • Samsung showed off a $20,000 3D camcorder
  • RealD announced consumer availability of their renowned Real3D glasses (the ones you see in theatres)
  • XpanD’s booth sported some snazzy 3D Bluetooth glasses

Of all the offerings, however, Sony seems to have the most complete package for at home. They showed off a number of OLED 3D HDTVs, they announced a number of 3D Blu-Ray players, and to put all that spectacular technology to use, they’re beginning the progression toward releasing Blu-Rays in 3D! First on their list: “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”.
