| Post Windows 7 RTM build strings revealed, possibly Windows 8 |

It wouldn’t be surprising if Microsoft has already begun work on Windows 8, seeing that Sinofsky is behind the wheel of the Windows development team, and prudent, timely engineering was the case with Windows 7. We’ll try to hunt down additional information on the above builds, but it’s very likely that they’re early prototype builds of Windows 8, and, as such, they don’t have many new features or UI changes over Windows 7. If you have any information to share, feel free to leave us a comment, or anonymously tip us at staff[at]geeksmack[dot]net. Windows 7 officially RTM’d on July 22nd, 2009, and it hit the shelves on October 22nd, 2009. |

In message board lingo, "this" means he agreed with the original poster's statement. It wasn't a grammar flame.
What about the build numbers...?
They don't seem high enough to be proper Windows 8 builds, just like the 6100 builds that floated around in mid 2007 this builds are either SP branch builds (though this is unlikely as they should be 7601) or very early preliminary work for Windows 8. If the latter is the case, then its not really even worth thinking about as these builds would be so like Windows 7, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference on the outside.
The real work begins after July this year when internal focus is switched, then an M1 build for Windows 8 would have most likely been compiled by the end of the year. Expect no leaks until early/mid 2011 or late 2010 if we're very lucky.
If any Windows 8 builds have been compiled, then they only JUST started happening. I know for certain that as recent as a month ago, they were still in the planning phase with no builds being compiled. Windows 7 SP1 builds have been running frequently, though. They began that branch prior to the completion of 7 RTM and continue it to this day, so if I had to guess, that would be what those build strings are from.
Naturally, I can't say for sure and I've no idea if they're compiling builds internally of 8 at the moment, but I think they would begin cranking them out here sooner than later.
