| Exclusive: Windows Live Mail, Photo Gallery Wave 4 Revealed |

Earlier this month, Neowin got their hands on exclusive screenshots revealing Windows Live Messenger and Live Writer in the flesh. Today, we received some juicy screenshots revealing more Wave 4 goodness, specifically Mail and Photo Gallery. These screenshots are of build 15.0.2403.826 of the Wave 4 applications. As you can see in the screenshots, the Ribbon interface has made its way into every Windows Live application with the exception of Messenger. Click to enlarge all images (if they aren’t already at their original size) below.
Above, you can see a menu in Windows Live Writer similar to that of the Office button. The orange circles are placeholders, as in this build no icons have been made for the menu items that have an orange circle next to them in place of an icon. In the 2 screenshots above, you can see the Ribbon UI in Mail and Photo Gallery. Other interface elements from what we hear remain the same, with the exception of the new Ribbon interface. Windows Live Wave 4 is expected to make an official debut in the form of a public beta sometime in Q1 of 2010. |

I think Wave 3 was a huge step backwards. I hope Wave4 fixes all the major problems with Wave3 (especially in the mail app) and then some.

If you look carefully looks like we might be getting geotagging at last, and hopefully full face recognition as well. (where once you have tagged a face a couple of times with a name, Photo Gallery recognises the same face in other photos. I also want to see Auto Collage fully available by default instead of having to be downloaded. Maybe even Photosynth as well???
